Description

This rich and creamy salted caramel frosting is perfect for cakes and cupcakes.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (cooled)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place softened butter into a mixing bowl and beat on medium-high speed for 2 to 3 minutes, until pale and fluffy.
  2. Lower the speed and add powdered sugar gradually, mixing on low until incorporated. Then beat on medium for another 2 minutes.
  3. Add cooled salted caramel sauce and beat until the frosting is smooth and glossy.
  4. Add heavy cream one tablespoon at a time, beating well between additions until the desired consistency is reached.
  5. Optionally, sprinkle in flaky sea salt and give it a final mix. Taste and adjust salt or caramel to preference.
