A delicious peppermint buttercream, perfect for decorating treats.
Ingredients

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
- Pinch of salt
- Gel food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Place the softened butter in a large mixing bowl and beat until smooth and creamy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Add peppermint extract, heavy cream, and salt. Mix until combined.
- Gradually add powdered sugar one cup at a time, mixing on low speed.
- Knead the mixture on a powdered sugar–dusted surface until smooth and pliable.
- Divide and add gel food coloring if desired, kneading until evenly colored.
- Shape into small balls, ropes, or pipe into decorative swirls.
- Place on parchment-lined tray and air-dry 12–24 hours.
- Store in an airtight container once firm.
Notes
- For a more intense color, add more gel food coloring gradually.
- This buttercream can be used for cakes, cookies, or cupcakes.
