Description

A rich and creamy caramel flan dessert that is perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns a golden caramel color. Quickly pour it into the bottom of a round cake pan.
  3. In a blender, combine the milk, cream, eggs, vanilla extract, flour, and baking powder. Blend until smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture into the caramel-lined cake pan.
  5. Place the cake pan in a larger baking dish filled with water (water bath) and bake for about 50-60 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.
  7. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the pan and invert onto a plate.

Notes

  • This dessert can be made a day in advance for better flavor.
  • Make sure the caramel is evenly spread on the bottom of the pan to avoid burning.
